Traditional Lambeg Drum
Brief History.

The Lambeg Drum is a large Drum (36" diameter x 24" deep approximately) used mainly in Northern Ireland.

It gets it's name from the village of Lambeg just outside the city of Lisburn in County Antrim where the drum was supposed to have been used for the first time. It is also known as a Killyman, Slasher or Tibbie. Giving a sound of over 120 dB it is one of the world's loudest acoustic instruments. It is carried by the Drummer using a neck harness and weighs around 40 lbs. It is beaten with a pair of curved malacca canes.
